Response from the property
Dear Maurizio Folini, We are sorry to read your review, especially because it does not accurately reflect what actually happened. Your reservation was for a non-refundable room. Despite this, when you contacted us because you had confused Alberobello with Polignano a Mare, we immediately made ourselves available to help you. We changed the date of your stay and provided you with all the support needed to resolve the situation. For this reason, we believe it is unfair to accuse our staff of being rude or arrogant. It is absolutely unfair to take out the frustration caused by a personal mistake on our staff. Our team is not made up of psychologists, but of people who love their work and carry it out every day with joy, respect, and care for our guests. It would be nice to always receive the same fairness and willingness from our guests that we strive to offer, but unfortunately, this does not always happen. We firmly believe that respect and courtesy should always be mutual. Greetings from all the staff, and enjoy your cycling trip through Puglia!

The hotel's own restaurant serves Apulian cuisine, with vegan, gluten-free and children's menus, and its bar and cafe are handy for a quick bite. Nearby, L'Olmo Bello is a well-liked restaurant within walking distance, and Ristorante Sciarabà is just a minute away on Via Indipendenza. For a typical local meal, Trattoria Amatulli on Via Garibaldi is a solid choice. The hotel also has agreements with typical restaurants in town, so you can explore further afield with confidence.
The Grand Hotel Olimpo sits on the edge of Alberobello's trulli district, just a short walk from the UNESCO-listed Rione Monti and other landmarks like Trullo Siamese, the Territory Museum House Pezzolla, and Casa D'Amore. The immediate area is quiet and residential, with the hotel's own bar and cafe for a quick break. A bit further, Trullo Sovrano is a 14-minute walk, while Acqua Splash Alberobello is 3.1 km away. The town center, with its characteristic trulli and local eateries, is easily reachable on foot, making the surroundings ideal for exploring the historic heart of Alberobello.
From Bari Karol Wojtyla Airport, the hotel is about 65 km away, roughly a 55-60 minute drive. You can book the hotel's airport shuttle in advance, or take the Ferrovie Sud Est train from Bari Centrale with a change at Putignano, about 1.5 hours total. From Alberobello's Ferrovie Sud Est station, the hotel is about 1.2 km away, a 12-15 minute walk or a 3-minute taxi ride. The hotel also offers a pre-booked transfer service from the station.
In the evening, the trulli district is a short walk away, with Trullo Siamese 7 minutes, Rione Monti 8 minutes, and Trullo Sovrano 14 minutes on foot, all lovely to see lit up. The hotel's own bar and cafe are right there for a relaxed drink. For dinner, L'Olmo Bello is a nearby restaurant you can walk to. You could also join an Alberobello Guided Segway and Mini Golf Cart Tour or an Alberobello Walking Tour with Audio and Written Guide by a Local to explore after dark. The Territory Museum House Pezzolla, 8 minutes away, is another option for an evening visit.
Yes, Grand Hotel Olimpo is a great base for exploring Alberobello. The UNESCO trulli district is just a short walk away: Trullo Siamese is 7 minutes on foot, and the Rione Monti and Territory Museum House Pezzolla are each 8 minutes away. Casa D'Amore is 9 minutes and Trullo Sovrano 14 minutes from the hotel. For the Acqua Splash water park, it's a 3.1 km trip, so you'll want a car or taxi. The hotel's central location makes it easy to return for a break before continuing your sightseeing.
