Start at the hotel's own Restaurante El Convento for international dishes, and unwind at its lounge bar. For a short walk, La Cuevita de Urquizu, about 130 meters away, serves Guatemalan food. Santa Rosa Burgers Club, also nearby, offers casual bites. A bit further, Café Condesa on the Central Park pours Antigua coffee, and ChocoMuseo, a cacao museum café, is a few minutes' walk from the hotel. These spots give you a range of local flavors within easy reach.
The hotel sits on a cobblestone street in Antigua's colonial center, right in front of the 18th-century Capuchin convent. You are a short walk from the Convento Capuchinas (1 min) and the Arco de Santa Catalina (5 min), with the Parque Central and San José Cathedral both 6 minutes away. The area is filled with historic buildings, courtyards, and gardens, and the rooftop terrace offers views of the surrounding volcanoes. It is a peaceful, atmospheric base for exploring the city's heritage on foot.
Fly into La Aurora International Airport (GUA), about 21 km from the hotel. The hotel offers a pre-booked airport shuttle, which is the most direct way to reach it. Alternatively, you can arrange a transfer through Antigua Tours or take a taxi or ride-hailing service for the roughly 40 km road journey. The drive typically takes around 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on traffic. The hotel can also arrange round-trip airport transport with advance notice.
In the evening, you can dine at the hotel's own Restaurante El Convento, which serves international dishes, or unwind at its lounge bar. For a change of scene, La Cuevita de Urquizu, a Guatemalan restaurant, is a short walk away. After dinner, the rooftop terrace offers views of the volcanoes. The Arco de Santa Catalina is a 5-minute walk and is a lovely spot to see the city lights. You can also stroll to Parque Central, 6 minutes away, where the cathedral and surrounding streets are pleasant for an evening walk.
El Convento Boutique Hotel is an excellent base for exploring Antigua Guatemala. You can walk to the Convento Capuchinas in just 1 minute, and the Arco de Santa Catalina, Iglesia de la Merced, San José Cathedral, Parque Central, and Cerro de La Cruz are all within a 6-minute walk. Tanque La Unión and Convento Santa Clara are a 7-minute stroll away. For farther sights like Hobbitenango, which is about 4.8 km from the hotel, you would need a short taxi or ride-hailing trip. The hotel's central location on a cobblestone street puts the city's colonial heart right at your doorstep.
