Egypt Tour- October 2025 It's not a chic hotel but they have all we need. Location: Absolutely close to everything. For example- Furry to elephantine island, Nile river, KFC, markets, 15 minutes walk to Aswan train station..etc... Service: Staff are very friendly and helpful especially Ramya! She's very helpful. Also she's easy to talk to, and she speaks good English :)

Absolutely worse hotel I have ever stayed in. We normally mix up cheaper and more luxurious places so this rating is not based on facilities but the cleanliness of the place. It was absolutely disgusting! Floor was so filthy our feet were black. Towels and bedding were also dirty and I think they had sprayed the bedding in fly spray as our skin was badly irritated. The toilet and shower were just horrendous from a cleanliness point of view but also neither were working - my husband had to fix both. To cap it off you have to access the hotel up a number of flights of steps, and the lift in the hotel didn’t work! The people were nice but really there is no excuse for this degree of filth. Avoid at all costs

A "low-cost" hotel, but not the best value for money. It has a very convenient location, just a few steps from the main street and across the street from the docks. Also, the rate doesn't include breakfast, but there are several restaurants and shops nearby where you can find food. I must admit that the triple room was spacious, with single beds, a covered balcony and large windows. The hotel doesn't appear to be old, but it definitely needs better maintenance. The lobby is empty and dark, they have a pool that looks like a swamp, and the bathroom and showers were the worst parts of the room (I'll share pictures). Leaks, bad smell and dirty… In my case, we made the reservation through a travel app and indicated we would pay by credit card. They even have stickers for "VISA, MASTERCARD, etc" on the front desk, but the manager insisted on paying in cash. We refused and demanded to pay by credit card. I recommend it just to spend the night and travel early to Abu Simbel, you can't miss it.

I stayed one night at Orchida St. George for a quick stopover. The entire place feels very run down, with poor lighting that makes everything look dark and gloomy. Cleanliness was the worst part—the fridge was filthy and smelled awful. Overall, the room felt neglected. If you're on a very tight budget and just need a place to crash for the night, it might do. But don’t expect comfort, cleanliness, or a welcoming atmosphere.

A decent budget hotel for quite a low price. Don't expect a luxury hotel, but if you're a budget traveler and just need a place to get a good night's sleep, then this place is definitely passable. The hotel could benefit from some upgrades. The rooms are old-fashioned and dusty, but the water, shower, fridge, etc. all worked in our room without a problem. The a/c unit cooled well, but was old and noisy. The hotel elevator worked well, the front desk staff were friendly and polite, and the best part for us was the convenient location by the Corniche and close to the upper entrance to the Old Aswan Market. The rooftop pool, which looks so nice in the pictures online, wasn't functional. There is a parking area just a short walk from the hotel entrance where we were able to get help to find a free parking space for our car. I didn't get a picture of the room, but have included the view from our window. Overall, don't have high expectations, but it's hard to beat the price compared to other hotels in Aswan.

The hotel is with higher price than it's quality. But during the high season is very reasonable. Staff is really kind and good all of them. Food is regularly served (the same each day) and no choices I think only one room is the Nile view. Its place from city is strategic.

A basic accommodation in Aswan. The Orchida has seen better days but you get what you need. The staff were all so friendly and helpful with everything. It could use some remodeling but the room is fine, it had a nice view and a comfortable bed. The location is really great - I did not want to stay on an island as it can be inconvenient with the luggage. Orchida is directly across from KFC - a popular pickup location for group tours.

I’m in this hotel now. Just came to spend one night to go to Abu Simbel in the morning. Aswan is a poor town and don’t be shocked not to see “regular” restaurants or “normal” hotels when it comes to a budget. Good thing about this hotel is its location on the river and “ok” bazar behind it, which offers local gold jewelry, fruits and vegetables, clothes and other local things for a price you must negotiate ( as everything in Africa). Took me 5 minutes to find this hotel because it’s inside the block and not visible from the mail street, which looks ruined with boarded windows in buildings around. First thought was: it’s a scam, but then I walked up the stairs on the street and it was on the right side. It’s ok looked lobby but very poor looking rooms. Linens were clean, shower had low pressure of water and they only gave two small pieces is soap and one roll of toilet paper. You only can imagine how local people live if they call this an “hotel”. I definitely survive this night but if not my trip to Abu Simbel - Aswan is not really a destination. I totally understand locals when they really try to run any business as good as they can, but they are poor and thank god I’m sitting on clean sheets and some pressure of water in the shower helps me to wash off the dust from the streets. It’s dusty, it’s a desert, it’s 36C and today is October 11. Staff is nice but they don’t speak good English, however, they try to help. You definitely can stay here but don’t roll your eyes expecting “Four seasons” for a price of $25 per night. It’s honest opinion, I travel in different poor and not so countries and this place is ok.
