Staying at Amane Resort Gahama was a memorable experience. Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed it. If we visit Beppu again, I would love to stay there. The room view facing directly toward the sea or to the east made the sunrise view very clear and beautiful. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.

Stayed at AMANE RESORT GAMAHA and this was easily one of the most memorable stays of the trip. The property is right on the waterfront, and the setting is just beautiful. There’s even a 100-year-old tea house at the center of the resort that you can explore on a self-guided tour, which adds a really unique, cultural touch to the stay. It’s also conveniently located next to a public park, and there are restaurants within walking distance. The lounge offered drinks and snacks during cocktail hour, and I found myself going back multiple times during my stay for coffee and refreshments. The croissant with red bean paste and a small stick of butter was surprisingly good and became a favorite. Stayed in a 2-bedroom waterfront villa, and it was incredible. The villa has both indoor and outdoor onsens, which made it feel extra special. There’s a balcony facing east, so I was able to enjoy an unobstructed sunrise right from the room — definitely a standout moment. The layout is also really nice, with a western-style bedroom upstairs and a traditional-style room downstairs. Everything felt very well designed and nicely appointed. There’s no pool, but does have a public indoor onsen. Breakfast is served at a building on the sister property, and there’s a shuttle to take you there. The food quality was very good with a solid variety, but the selection just didn’t quite match my personal taste. The coffee there was also not great, so I ended up sticking with coffee from the lounge instead. The staff throughout the stay were very friendly and helpful, which really elevated the overall experience. Overall, a peaceful, scenic, and unique resort stay — perfect if you’re looking to relax with great views and a touch of traditional charm.

One of the best resorts I’ve stayed at in Japan. Everything was spot on. The food was excellent, and the service went beyond expectations—very Japanese in style, with incredible attention to detail. We got off the train at Beppugaki Station, and it was only a seven-minute walk to the resort. We stayed one night in a seaside maisonette and arrived around 2:00 p.m. Shortly after arrival, we enjoyed the hotel’s afternoon tea, which was both relaxing and delicious. Dinner was outstanding, and our servers names 辛 and 翁 were absolutely perfect. Having a private onsen in our room was extremely convenient and immaculately clean. Watching the sunrise from our room was a truly special experience. I highly recommend visiting the resort’s shop—they offer a great selection of quality items. Before we left, a staff member named Tanaka (田中) assisted us. She speaks excellent Chinese, having studied it for five years, and was incredibly kind and helpful. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and a truly comfortable, memorable experience.

We changed room type when we got to the hotel (from Seaside Maisonette to one of the Tower apartments) and this was seamlessly offered to us by the night staff. Service is top notch. Great for families. The food is wonderful and there is private onsen in every single room.Highly recommend for families of up to 4 persons to stay in the tower apartments. They are very new and well furnished.

Stayed on 10f with in room onsen and jacuzzi and the worse thing is the onsen was mostly covered in disgusting black stains which was totally different from the website photo, so ended up only using the jacuzzi on both nights. Staff service and friendliness was great, especially Thao who was our dinner server at gahama. Food wise, there were hits and misses but mostly hits so no complaints. Tried one night at gahama n one night at seikai. Overall food was better at gahama n gahama has private room for dinner and breakfast which was a big plus.

Horrendous Experience! Insect Overload! Background We booked one night at this hotel, including a Kaiseki dinner and a Japanese-style breakfast. The total cost was 5,449 HKD (around 702 USD or 619 EUR). Pros • The Kaiseki dinner was delicious. Cons 1. Rushed Dining Experience In the email, we were informed that the last order time was 7:30 PM. We arrived promptly at 7:00 PM and were asked to dine before checking in, which was fine. The Kaiseki dinner consisted of 9 courses, served individually. However, the waitress repeatedly brought the next dish before we finished the current one. I politely asked her to slow down, but the pace didn’t change. When I asked again, she blamed us for being late, claiming the last order time was 7:00 PM. I showed her the email confirming the 7:30 PM cutoff, and she apologized, asking me to ring a bell when ready for the next dish. This rushed experience took away from the enjoyment of the meal. 2. Spiders and Insects in the Room We booked the Seaside Maisonette, which features both indoor and outdoor hot springs separated by glass and a net panel to keep insects out. The indoor hot spring area also contains the shower-there is no other shower or bath in the room. When I undressed to enjoy the hot spring, which was supposed to be the highlight of our trip, I was horrified to find the room infested with insects: 4 spiders, several flying insects, and many crawling on the walls! I was frightened but had no choice but to shower with insects all around me. After showering, I hesitated to enter the hot spring because there were 3 spiders there as well. When I finally stepped in, the water was scalding hot and burned me. There should definitely be a warning sign about the water temperature and instructions to test it before entering. We called the hotel to report this, and they offered to move us to another room. My husband checked the new room first and confirmed the glass and net panels were tightly closed, with no visible insects. However, I was too traumatized to use the hot spring again during our stay. 3. Insects in the New Room After moving, I thought we were free from insects-but I found 2 spiders in the new room: one upstairs and one downstairs. My husband caught them, but I still felt uneasy throughout the night. 4. Lack of Front Desk Response The next day, I expected the front desk staff to acknowledge our terrible experience and offer some form of apology or care, but they said nothing about the previous night’s issues. 5. Disappointing Breakfast The Japanese-style breakfast was bland, and the fish contained many bones, making it difficult to enjoy. Summary While the Kaiseki dinner was tasty, the rushed service, insect infestation, scalding hot spring water, and lack of customer care made this stay extremely disappointing. I cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience.

Spacious room with gorgeous view, onsen with jacuzzi pool, you can totally relax & stay there for an hour...Food was excellent and with good services. They have "buffet breakfast" & served in private room of Japanese style breakfast. I selected the buffet one - which was delicious and with various of selection on Japanese & western style.
