Had a great relaxing stay at this resort with big comfortable rooms with a view of the sea and hills. Especially enjoyed the free onsen facilities within the hotel which features both indoor and outdoor pools. Guests can also help themselves to free snacks and drinks (including wine and beer!) between 3 to 6pm. The hotel is located about 20 minutes drive away from the JR station in Beppu and has nothing much in the vicinity except a gift shop on the ground floor and a 7-11 downhill. The free shuttle bus to town was therefore most appreciated. Overall, a great choice if you are looking for a relaxing stay in Beppu.

Short stay on night one of our Kyushu road trip. Chose this hotel as the only Accor property in the area. Noting this is a resort style hotel, starting to show its age but its fine. I believe this was one of many hotel properties purchased by Accor few years ago with their Japan expansion. Room was extremely spacious and comfortable enough for our barely 14 hour stay. Great views of the ocean from our room. There is a lounge in the lobby for I believe all guests opposite reception serving drinks and snacks including alcohol for a few hours late afternoon. The hotel is some distance from central Beppu, however there is a 7-Eleven store across the road that's easily walkable. Plenty of parking was available at the multi level car park adjacent to the hotel. Staff we interacted with were friendly. Do I recommend Grand Mercure Beppu Resort? Yes, Would i stay here again? Yes.

Impressive Dining, but Lacking the Relaxation I Expected The location of this hotel is convenient for transit, though there isn't much in the immediate vicinity. We hadn't originally planned on dining on-site, but after learning from the staff that the nearest options would require a 30-minute drive to Beppu Station, we decided to try the hotel buffet. It actually turned out to be a highlight; the variety was impressive, and it offered a great opportunity to sample local dishes we might not have discovered otherwise. However, the atmosphere was far from quiet. The restaurant was packed, largely with families and young children, making for a very loud and somewhat chaotic dining experience. This hectic energy carried over to the hot baths. While the facilities and changing areas are huge, they were incredibly crowded after dinner. I was also disappointed to find a noticeable smell of chlorine in both the indoor and outdoor baths, which took away from the traditional onsen experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing retreat, this may not be the ideal choice.

The hotel is situated outside of Beppu and has nice views of the Ocean. It caters primarily for groups and it is well suited for that part of the travel industry. Their dining room is spacious and serves a good array of food. Our sincere thanks to Mariko-San, Admin Manager for going out of her way to arrange special meals and to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Our thanks to Bigat Rana and Lisa Li for their attentive service. Thanks to all the other staff at the front desk, restaurant and housekeeping for their wonderful service.

Im currently staying at Grand Mercure Bay View Hotel and had a generally comfortable experience. One of the highlights is definitely the room size—it’s impressively spacious, which makes a big difference, especially if you’re staying more than a night. There’s plenty of room to relax and unpack without feeling cramped. However, the buffet dinner was a bit of a letdown. While the food itself is decent, the selection lacks variety. I stayed for a second night and found that they served exactly the same dishes as the night before. It takes away from the overall experience, especially if you’re dining in-house multiple nights—it starts to feel repetitive and a little underwhelming. I wanted to call the reception for a enquiry but the phone in the room doesn’t indicate the number to dial, I tried several numbers but none work, this is crucial for emergency. Overall, great for comfort and space, but the dining experience could definitely be improved with more variety.

A very warm, friendly and helpful welcome by Pie who spoke good English. Nice resort. Only parts of the resort has been renovated. Not all rooms are renovated. Fortunately we got upgraded to a renovated room which was much appreciated. They have a huge restaurant with lots of seating areas. The breakfast and dinner buffet served the same food as the Mercure in Munakata. Lounge, souvenir shop and kids reading area on the ground floor with reception. Their lounge opens for afternoon tea and night cap for guests staying at the resort. Also another kids area on the 3rd floor. This resort caters for kids. Highly recommend for families with young ones. The rooms are good size. Smart tv in the renovated rooms but not connected to the internet. That was disappointing. In-house self serve coin operated laundry. Overall, we enjoyed the facilities and amenities at this resort. Looking at returning in the near future with the family once the suites renovations are completed. A big shout out to Bigat. Thank you for showing me the suites, thank you for the room upgrade. You sure know how to look after the Platinums

I stayed with my dad from May 28 to the 30th and it was an amazing experience. The view is incredible and the food was good with different experiences from a new prefecture. During check in, we were helped by this amazing person which I may forget the name but she was from Taiwan and I think the name is Go san, apologies for the name if I am incorrect. Thank you for helping with us during check in. We are looking forward to staying at this resort again in the future. From the Walker Family Sam and Kevin

The location is convenient for road trip travelers. The hotel has a huge car park. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel offer free drinks and snacks every evening. The room is clean and huge. We are a family of four and we stayed comfortably in the room. However, the facilities are a bit old. The tap is not running properly, though the hotel staff tried to fix it, water still dripped. There’s a very nice table tennis room with a huge window facing the ocean, but the rackets and the tables are old and worn out. My boy was so excited with the table tennis room but so disappointed with the worn out rackets, balls and table. Breakfast was excellent with a lot of choices, and super delicious.
