Google· 6 months agoAn open hotel under Hoshino group. First let me talk about the good thing. Room is spacious and clean and modern. It's by the shore which the view is marvelous. Dinner is delicious. What I don't like is it's not a traditional onsen hotel. Staffs are nice but not professional. No staff can speak fluent English. Room cleaning by myself. Dirty linen and trash has to put outside the door for exchange which is like a hostel and doesn't look hygienic. The foot bath is a great idea.

Google· 9 months agoOverall service was lacklustre for a Ryokan under Hoshino, no introduction of room, no luggage service, no explanation of meal (eg. types of sashimi fish etc). Standard of food was also pretty average at this price point. Entire hotel and room was pretty dark with dim lighting at night. Room design was great though with great view and good size private wooden onsen.

Trip.com· 7 months agoGorgeous hotel on the bay in Beppu with stunning views of the sea and mountains. Hotel is modern and beautiful, influenced by traditional craftsmanship and architecture. Meals are delicious and draw on local delicacies. Service is so-so. Staff seem overwhelmed and distant. Lots of activities planned for guests, but noise doesn’t travel. Hot springs are relaxing, although there are only two baths inside and one, small one outside. Shop is not great. Would recommend the hotel consider selling some of the dish ware or toiletries in the bathroom or other crafts and or local products from Oita, etc.

Trip.com· 6 months agoLove the room size and views but the tv model and charging cables are so old. Good if there can be smart TV and USB charging too. Dinner and breakfast are quite tasty, consider value for money for overall stay and dining experience. The sunrise view was the best experience for the entire stay.

Tripadvisor· 2 years agoThis hotel was the highlight of our recent trip to Japan. Once we arrive at the entrance, we were greeted by staff. It was not time for check-in yet but staff were helpful with storing our luggage until check-in time. We enjoyed drinks in the lounge, which includes alcohol, tea, etc. It was raining that day and umbrellas were available by the entrance for guests to borrow. Due to the rain, we walked to the mall near the hotel. At check-in time, the staff led us to our room and completed check-in process in the room. The staff helped us to register for an hotel activity (free perfume making workshop was short, but fun and we had a great time!) There were also other activities in the evening that do not need reservation (old-time Japanese games, self-serve ramen station, evening show, etc.) Once we walked into our room, we were literally "OMG", the floor to ceiling ocean view is breathtaking! I loved the ocean view so much that I spent a lot of time sitting by the window and just enjoying the view. Our room has a private onsen, which is lovely. Dinner and breakfast were good quality, but the dishes were not very special compared to the ones we had at other onsen hotels. But the dining staff was very attentive and friendly. The onsen at the hotel is nice. The hotel is located by the ocean, step outside and you could walk along the oceanside. After we check-out, the staff asked if we would like to take a photo by the entrance. She took the elevator down with us to take photos for us. The service throughout our stay is exceptional! This is our first time staying at a Kai hotel and we were amazed by their hospitality and attention to detail, we especially loved their activities!

Google· 9 months agoA bit disappointed, room and view is nice, but not much facilities and we need to book at least 2 nights and price not low, meal are not enough for a normal man and less Japanese style. Also I don’t know why check in staff ask us to park our car to another parking lots on second day, it is winter 2nd parking lot need to walk around 5 mins. So I will consider try other Osen resort if come to beppu again.

Google· 7 months agoMy first time at an onsen resort. It was amazing and relaxing. I would stay at least a couple days. Yes it’s worth it. I will have to try the other locations around Japan.
