The food was amazing, and well worth the price. The room was fine, but I wished the TV either had more channels or any kind of streaming service I can login to. I had wanted to chill and watch TV, but ended up not having much to do besides the onsen. Hotel provides yukata with socks too. They were very comfortable and added to the relaxation. The view from the room and outdoors onsen was great.

Location wise is good, sea view. Room view. NO GOOD. Don’t fool by the description or photo. Beach and Sea view is looking on the side at the hotel next to it and the tiny ugly beach. However, Dinner is self service. You can tell service difference between treating Japanese and tourist. Bad experience

Love the view from my room. Beautiful Japanese room with sea view. Love the outdoor onsen . There are indoor onsen too. Breakfast was awesome and yummy. Definitely will be back again .

This ryokan was moderately priced and probably a good value. It is a bit old and the onsen baths were disappointing with plastic surroundings rather than real bamboo. There was no view from the indoor bath. The view from our room was lovely. We enjoyed the food and the servers in the restaurant were very nice.

great money value. Booked 1 night with 2 meals, food quality far exceed expectations. Sea view room is right in front of the sea. Car parks are closed by. Room space is larger than described in details.

Nothing but good things to say about the hotel, it is one of the best stays I´ve had anywhere and a hotel with excellent value. The hotsprings were excellent with ocean and mountain views, and food was above and beyond our expectation. The hotel tatamis were comfortable and the staff were highly professional. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone coming to Buppa. I hope to return again soon!

While the building and rooms are recognisable a bit older it is well kept and clean. The staff is absolutely top notch and the food was very tasty and of good quality. This was the only place in Beppu I could find that had hot springs and let solo travelers book a room for my timeframe. Would come again! Also kudos for the pianist playing ghibli songs in the evening.

Very nice location by the sea and close to the JR station. The view on the city side aren't great (a parking lot and some tall buildings) but the sea side has a great panorama of the coast. The rooms seem to have been refurbished recently but the hotel still seems a bit dated. The highlight is the rooftop hot spring with a wonderful view of the coast and (for early risers) the sunrise -- it is open day-round except from midnight to 4am. Special mention also to the breakfast, which is Japanese style and really excellent. We also appreciated the service.
