The smell was horrible! I stayed here with my choir for one night and as soon as we walked inside our rooms we were met with horrific smells that wouldn’t go away no matter how much we aired out the rooms. The lobby looks beautiful but even just when you get to the elevators you start to realize the mistake you made. The room wasn’t cleaned well and the appliances were very dirty or in disrepair. The floors had a bunch of grime on them (clumps of dirt and other rocks and stuff)…One good thing was the food and how many outlets there were, but other than that, the staff weren’t very welcoming and i felt like we were staying in a ghost hotel because there was not another soul here. The hotel cat was cute tho- great view. EDIT: My feet turned a dark grey after walking around on the floor for about an hour. I heard from friends that they had a similar experience. Our power also went out? When the clerk came up to fix it he didn’t bring a flashlight so he had to use one of ours and it turned out that the breaker box has blown out. After he fixed it he said something along the lines of, “so sorry, this happens sometimes”

We stayed at this hotel with our tour group, and I honestly can’t remember a more unpleasant experience. The whole place feels like it hasn’t seen proper maintenance in decades. The halls and rooms reeked of mould, and the bathrooms gave off an odour that made me wonder if the drains were doubling as open sewers. Then came the restaurant — if you can call it that. Half the food was inedible, the other half bland. Only the soup and desserts were passable, but even that couldn’t distract from the disaster that was the service. Our group was forced to wait nearly two hours to get in while other groups were already well into their meals. No one bothered to explain that our food was set out separately, so when we approached the wrong buffet table, a waiter came storming over and began shouting at us like we were misbehaving schoolchildren. And this wasn’t a one-off moment. The same waiter spent the entire evening stomping around the room, tossing out snide remarks and generally behaving like a surly bison. What’s worse, his attitude seemed reserved only for our group — everyone else was treated normally. As if that wasn’t humiliating enough, we were rationed to one bottle of red and one bottle of white wine for a table of ten. When we tried to order more, we were flatly refused. Meanwhile, other groups were freely drinking and already tipsy by the time we finally sat down. Run-down rooms, foul smells, inedible food, and staff who mistake hostility for hospitality — this hotel manages to fail on every level. If you enjoy being insulted, underfed, and treated like a nuisance, this is the place for you. Otherwise, do yourself a favour and stay far, far away.

Not trying to be critical and will just stick to the facts of my experience, which I cut short for the record. This is a very dated property in dire need of updates. The rooms are equipped to merely sleep and shower. There’s a bathtub but don’t think of taking one, my drain plug was missing. There’s no mini-fridge or microwave so don’t think of taking leftovers up from the restaurant. There’s no pool or fitness center so don’t stay if you plan to maintain your exercise routine. Lastly, bring your own bottled water because you can’t even buy any there. Not that you go to a hotel to watch TV, but if you wanted to their’s are the size of a computer monitor so bring some binoculars. Last but not least, I wanted to relax and have a beer on the bar patio and that was the last I saw of the staff. Had to go find someone to simply pay the tab, which could have been much larger cause I was there for two hours and left thirsty. Ended up ordering Uber Eats. Just the facts so just understand what you are getting.

Neat room, must have been a bit on the luxurious side before, now a lot of Loose threads, details not in order etc... The amenities in the bathroom were opened, with even one box empty. This gave me a bit of an unclean feeling. Breakfast has lots of options, good choices were made and it seemed well-preserved and maintained. Beautiful view.

We have been going to the Hotel for 3 yrs at Lunchtime, to celebrate Birthdays. We also take our guests there when they visit. Always excellent service.....

A hotel that is in desperate need of a good restauration. The rooms are extremely noisy and very badly noise isolating, they also stink. We had a room with a very bad cold tobacco smell. Our room was changed but the damp and moist smell of our new room was not any better. The towels have an oil and vinegar smell, the bathroom provides no ventilation system. The buffet food, on top of generally being bland is not great with many meals running out fast. The corridors also smell bad with a general smell of old furniture and dirty carpets. The location is also not ideal being right next to a freeway and on the other side of the city or Coimbra, forcing the guests to be dependent of a vehicle. It’s a 6 minute drive, but over an hour by public transport or by foot. The staff is however quite efficient, but with a hotel that is this outdated, I would hope so.

the rooms don't smell very good and the towels have a very strong and unpleasant odour. I don't know why but every day of our stay, the clean towels that were put in the bathroom had an odour of vinegar and frying oil...

The hotel is against a hill on the other side of the Mondego river aa seen from the city. From the outside it looks a bit dull but inside is ok. Staff was friendly on all levels and the room was ok. The hotel has a nice shuttle service to the old part of town that takes you there and back on fixed times in 5-10 minutes. There is an a la carte restaurant but used the all you can eat buffet for €20,- which was nice. The breakfast buffet was nice too
