A fall from grace I think. The staff are very friendly and helpful but the hotel really needs some care. Holes in ceilings and bathrooms and it hasn’t seen love in a while. The breakfast was very minimal, bread rolls, a croissant, sparse fruit, some cheese and meat and yoghurts. The coffee was bad. The bar wasn’t open The location is great and the price cheap however so ideal for a night if you need the location

Friendly staff but that's the only positive note of the hotel. Everything is outdated and shared facilities are out of order (sauna and most equipment in the gym). Breakfast with very limited choice and always same items. Definitely not a 4-star hotel

I booked a one-night stay for two separate rooms at Hotel Ibn-Arrik seven months in advance (October) directly through their official hotel website. I received a reservation number, an itemized receipt showing the total due for two rooms, and a live link to view my reservation. When I arrived at the property today, the front desk informed me they only had one room available for us. Management claimed that my initial email was only a "booking request" and that I should have waited for a second confirmation email. Crucially, the email they sent did not state anywhere that a second email was required, nor did it say the reservation was pending. Additionally, this logic makes no sense: I never received a second email, yet they still managed to hold exactly one room for me. They blamed a broken website system, but they had seven months to contact me and correct the error. Instead, they waited until we showed up at the desk to tell us. We were left stranded in Coimbra and had to scramble to find last-minute alternative accommodations. If you choose to book here, avoid their direct website. Call or email them directly to manually verify that they actually have your rooms secured, or book through a major third-party platform that guarantees your stay. I would not trust their direct booking engine again.

Great breakfast and clean rooms. The pool area does need cleaning though (or more) but we still had fun!

Where do I start , bathroom is open to bedroom, no slippers with dressing gowns, no plug sockets near bed the terrace is lovely but only 1 chair , no desk half of small wardrobe is taken up with empty mini bar, safe and 2 little drawers. Small TV. I may seem picky but expect a little more for the price. Garage door held open with scaffold pole for past 3 months . The 2 reception staff were great though.

Hotel is nice, room spacious, comfortable bed and perfect location. It has parking available and is also possible to leave the car just in front, on the street. Receptionist was very nice and helpful. The room was bit strange, the bathroom is not actually separated, is in front of the bed. The toilet was dirty when we arrived and there was not daily cleaning (quite surprising considering that is 4* hotel) Breakfast was just OK, not so many options; served on the open terrace which was fine, just I would rather keep the food (even marmalades, etc. and bread out of sun).

Nice large clean rooms, with comfortable beds. Easy check in and out. Walking distance to the old part of Coimbra. Generous buffet breakfast in the morning which included, eggs, bacon, buns/bread, cereal, yoghurt, a large variety of fresh fruit, cheese, cold cuts.....

The hotel needs renovation, especially the pool and spa center. The bathroom and toilet are practically in the room, they are not separated from the room by a door, it can be uncomfortable if you are with a girlfriend or a friend and have to go to toilet. It's for sure not 4 stars hotel. They don't clean rooms every day. Staff are amazing, and location is really good, it's 15min walking distance from city center and all major facilities.
