Naturlehrpfad Feldmühle
The Feldmühle Nature Trail is a short, flat loop walk through the Traisen River floodplain just north of St. Pölten, Austria's Lower Austrian capital. Opened in 1993, this educational trail packs an astonishing range of habitats into under three kilometres: riparian forest, flower meadows, reed beds, ponds, and river-margin vegetation all in one stroll. Visitors come here to listen to frogs, watch dragonflies skim over yellow water lilies, spot any of the 67 recorded bird species from an observation platform, and admire a mighty elm tree that has been a protected natural monument since 1997. The trail is free, open year-round, and easily accessible from both the city centre and the surrounding cycle network.
