Sebilj
The Sebilj is Sarajevo's most beloved landmark: a small, octagonal wooden fountain standing at the heart of Baščaršija, the city's old Ottoman bazaar quarter. Built in its current form in 1891 on a site that has hosted public fountains since 1753, it is part drinking station, part civic meeting point, part living legend — and arguably the single most photographed object in the city. Locals call it the city's living room. Visitors come for the architecture, stay for the pigeons, and leave having drunk from its brass tap — because tradition promises that anyone who sips from the Sebilj will one day return to Sarajevo.
