Quebra Mar de Salvador
The Salvador Breakwater — Quebra Mar — is the imposing stone sea wall that guards the mouth of the Port of Salvador, one of Brazil's oldest and most storied harbors. Built in the early 20th century during an era of sweeping urban transformation, it reshaped the city's waterfront and encloses the circular Forte de São Marcelo like a stony arm cradling a pearl. Today it stands as a protected historical landmark and a favored spot for watching the Bay of All Saints shimmer in the afternoon light.
