Lighthouse Grand Bassam
The Grand-Bassam Lighthouse is a 24-meter masonry tower built in 1913–14 that once guided ships along Côte d'Ivoire's coast. Now deactivated and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it stands as a striking relic of the colonial-era port that was briefly the capital of French Ivory Coast. Located in the old quarter of Grand-Bassam on the barrier island between the Atlantic and the Ébrié Lagoon, the lighthouse is easily combined with a walk through one of West Africa's best-preserved colonial towns, known for its veranda-fronted houses, bustling artisan markets, and vibrant N'zima fishing village culture.
