Klostermühle Lahde
Klostermühle Lahde is one of only two surviving combined wind- and water mills in Germany, standing in the small Weser-side village of Lahde as a remarkable monument to over 700 years of continuous milling history. First documented in 1292, the mill was originally built by Dominican nuns and later expanded in the 1870s into its present hybrid form — a two-storey Dutch-style gallery windmill raised atop a watermill building fed by the Aue stream. After grinding grain for more than seven centuries, the mill ceased commercial operation in 1998. Today, the daughters of the last miller have transformed the site into a cherished local landmark and visitor attraction. With a 4.6-star rating from Google reviewers and 169 photos uploaded by visitors, the Klostermühle has become one of the most photogenic and historically rich mill sites in the Minden-Lübbecke district.
