Laviku järv
Laviku järv, often called Laviku paisjärv, is a small, glassy impounded lake hidden in the forests of Lahemaa National Park in northern Estonia. Formed where the Võsu River is held back by a low dam, it stretches only about 860 metres long with a shoreline of roughly two kilometres, and at its centre sits a single tiny island. It is one of those quiet, little-known spots that the wider Lahemaa region is full of — a postcard-perfect pond tucked between trees rather than a tourist draw. What makes Laviku worth the detour off the coastal road is the layering of features around its banks: a lovingly restored old watermill that now serves as a striking residence, island sauna, gentle forest trails and a near-perfect stillness that has charmed generations of walkers, geocachers and foragers. It suits a short, restorative stop — a woodland walk, a look at the mill and the island, and a moment of quiet on the water's edge.
