Ausammas Puškinile
On a quiet street in Estonia's borderland city of Narva stands a bronze bust of Russia's greatest poet, Alexander Pushkin, mounted on a striking red granite pedestal. Erected in 1999 to mark the 200th anniversary of Pushkin's birth, the monument was sculpted by Mikhail Anikushin — the same artist whose celebrated full-length Pushkin statue dominates Arts Square in Saint Petersburg. Narva is the only town in Estonia with a street named after Pushkin, making this monument a unique cultural landmark at the crossroads of Russian and Estonian heritage. Open all year and free to visit, it draws poetry lovers on commemorative dates and curious travellers exploring one of Europe's most intriguing border cities.
