Sangam Temple
Sangam Temple is a South Indian Hindu place of worship on Sangam Street in Labasa, the main town of northern Fiji's second-largest island. Run by the TISI Sangam — an organization founded in 1926 to preserve the culture and faith of Tamil and South Indian indentured labourers — it houses a Sri Venkateshwara Devasthanam shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his form as the deity of Tirumala hills. With a 4.6 rating from visitors and an atmosphere repeatedly described as calm, peaceful, and deeply authentic, the temple offers travelers in the Macuata Province a window into the living Hindu heritage that South Indian girmitiya descendants built over nearly a century in this Pacific sugarcane town.
