Etten Island

Eten Island offers a hauntingly beautiful glimpse into World War II history, where a massive Japanese airfield has been reclaimed by the lush Micronesian jungle. Located in the heart of Chuuk Lagoon, this small island is defined by a concrete runway that cuts through the canopy, flanked by the remains of revetments and military structures. It serves as a quiet, atmospheric memorial to the conflict that once engulfed the lagoon, now teeming with marine life just offshore.
