Kollafjarðar Bygdarsavn
Kollafjarðar Bygdarsavn is the small local heritage museum of Kollafjørður, a long coastal village on the island of Streymoy in the Faroe Islands. Its mission is a simple, heartfelt one: to gather up the objects, photographs and stories of the community and keep them safe for the future. Rather than a grand public institution, it is a volunteer-run memory box for one Faroese village. Today the project's heart is a digitized archive. The team has focused first on scanning photographs taken before 1980, sorted by decade from the 1900s through the 1980s, alongside a catalogued collection of local artefacts. For anyone interested in everyday Faroese life a century ago, it is a quietly rewarding place to browse, whether online or on site.
