Treasure Beach
Treasure Beach is a four-mile stretch of fishing villages on Jamaica's South Coast where no all-inclusive resorts were ever built. Set in the parish of St. Elizabeth, it encompasses four distinct bays — Billy's Bay, Frenchman's Bay, Calabash Bay, and Great Bay — each with dark-golden sand, working fishermen, and a community-run tourism model that keeps the pace slow and the experience genuine. This is the south coast's most famous anchor: Floyd's Pelican Bar, a wooden structure on stilts a quarter-mile offshore reached by local fishing boat. Combine a sunset drink there with a morning at YS Falls' seven-tier cascade, an afternoon tasting aged rums at Appleton Estate, and a crocodile-spotting safari on the Black River, and you have the signature week that keeps travelers returning long after the north-coast crowds have gone home.
