Museum of Clocks
The Museum of Clocks in Klaipėda is the only museum of its kind in Lithuania and the wider Northern European region, tracing the entire story of humanity's quest to measure time — from ancient Egyptian sundials to quartz and quantum oscillators. Housed in a graceful late-19th-century villa surrounded by rare trees, it brings together authentic masterpieces and hand-crafted working models across nine richly themed rooms. Visitors move chronologically through the evolution of clockmaking: the ground floor reveals the physics of early timekeeping (shadow, water, fire, sand, and mechanical movements), while the upper floor unfolds five centuries of artistic styles, from the silver Renaissance cases of 16th-century Vilnius to exquisite Breguet watches and Art Nouveau table clocks. Outside, a charming sundial park and Saturday-and-Sunday carillon concerts add another sensory layer.
