Haardmesbierg
Haardmesbierg is a quiet hilltop in the Éislek, the forested upland of northern Luxembourg that many call the country's Ardennes. At 518 metres it is one of the high points of the plateau around Clervaux, and its Luxembourgish name simply means 'hill' — *bierg*. There is no building, café or ticket booth at the summit; what draws people here instead is open upland ground, the surrounding web of marked walking and mountain-bike trails, and the slow, green panoramas that make this corner of the Grand Duchy a favourite for outdoor exploration. The hill is best understood as part of a wider playing field rather than a single sight to tick off. It sits on a landscape stitched together by signposted routes and reached most naturally from the town of Clervaux below, whose abbey, castle and award-winning exhibitions give the whole outing a comfortable base. If you enjoy rolling forest ridges, deep river valleys and the kind of uncluttered views you only get from the top of a hill, this stretch of the Éislek is well worth a day — and if you are looking for manicured attractions at the summit itself, you will not find them here.
