Caramoan
Caramoan is a small municipality on a jagged peninsula thrusting out of Camarines Sur into the Philippine Sea, and it works as the gateway to one of Bicol's most spectacular coastlines: the beaches, limestone cliffs and sea caves of Caramoan National Park. Out in the bay a scatter of forested karst islands rises from water that shifts from bottle-green to blue, and a day's boat trip takes you to beaches that vanish at high tide, lagoons hidden inside seemingly solid rock, and caves you wade into through the dark. This is not a polished resort strip. Multiple seasons of the reality show Survivor were filmed here precisely because the scenery is cinematic, but the difficulty of the journey has kept Caramoan off the main tourist circuit, so the island-hopping feels raw and the coves are often empty. Think of it as the kind of limestone coast El Nido was decades ago—small, unpolished, and all the better for it.
