Cascade de Grand Galet
Grand Galet Waterfall — known to nearly everyone on Réunion simply as the Cascade de Langevin — is the island's most photographed cascade and a place unlike any other. Water doesn't plunge in a single jet; it seeps from an entire cliff face in hundreds of silvery threads, spread across the full width of the rock and stitched together with lush green vegetation, forming a shimmering curtain that flows year-round. Set within Réunion National Park in the commune of Saint-Joseph, the cascade drops roughly 45 metres into a broad natural pool fed by the Langevin River, one of the island's favourite spots for swimming, picnicking and guided canyoning. A short walk from the car park takes you straight to a purpose-built belvedere — no hike required to take in the full spectacle.
