Ile Senyamakoma
Ile Senyamakoma sits quietly in the turquoise waters of Lake Kivu, one of the small volcanic islands dotting Rwanda's Great Lake near the Rubavu shoreline. Unlike the famous Nkombo Island with its fishing village, Senyamakoma is a modest natural outcrop — a patch of green rising from the water that catches the late afternoon light and shifts color as the clouds move across the lake. It is the kind of place you notice from a boat, from a hillside on the Congo-Nile Trail, or during a slow sunset walk along the Rubavu shore, and its quiet presence adds another layer to an already dramatic lakeside landscape.
