I stayed at Albergaria do Calvario for three nights in April 2026. I loved this hotel and loved Evora. Its not a fancy hotel, rather simple and straightforward but is good value for the price. The location is perfect in the old city and walking distance to everything you'd want to see. Getting lost in nearby streets is actually one of the best things you could do. The breakfast, while nothing special, was a pleasure to eat on the outside patio (as long as your ok with carrying out your own plates). Fresh omelets and pancakes are make for you and brought out by the nice staff. The three people I encountered at the front desk were all wonderful, kind and helpful. A young woman checked us in late at night, an older gentleman gave great restaurant recommendations and a special shout out to Diogo who we really enjoyed meeting on our last day at the hotel. He was kind, helpful and shared some personal stories that made me feel better about some of Portugal's problematic violent history. There is parking below the hotel but its only suitable for very small cars and experienced drivers that know how to pull in and out of tight spots (ever hear of a 20 point turn?!). My only complaint is that the room was and bathroom were definitely small (room 11 I think). I highly recommend a stay here and hope its available when I return to Evora!

One of our favourite accommodations on our trip through Portugal, this small hotel is historic and charming. The staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere. You could order drinks or food (which was delicious - try the warm cheese and local bread) and have it delivered in one of the inviting common areas on the main level, or out on the lovely patio. The hotel is located within the ancient city walls of Evora so there are no views to speak of. But a great location, easily walkable everywhere around the town. Parking is limited so book early. We had to park on the street which the hotel still charges for because I guess it’s reserved exclusively for their use. The included breakfast was one of the best we experienced - lots of variety and everything was delicious. We would highly recommend Albergaria do Calvario.

Our family of four (Me 55, W56, S25, S21) visited in mid-July and had a wonderful stay for two nights. The location is fantastic just inside the walls of Evora and was convenient for walking to dinner both nights and to generally explore the area. The staff was friendly and helpful and the small bar in the lobby was a nice touch for a late night apertif following dinner. Breakfast was presented well and it was great to be able to enjoy it in the courtyard.

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel and it was perfect in all respects. You may not need 3 nights to see the sights in Evora, however do take it if you can - slow down and enjoy the local experience. The service, by all staff, was exceptional. Breakfast was plentiful and a nice mix of options. The room and bed was comfortable. We also appreciated that the location, just inside the walls, allowed easy access to sights and restaurants. The underground parking made it easy to move suitcases in and out, as well as stay parked off the street. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.

What a wonderful experience! My husband and I traveled to Evora for 1 night. What a great experience here! When we checked in, we were greeted with a lot of information, map, directions and help. When we made plans we thought we would be able to stay a little longer, but train schedules made us leave around 6:30am. I assumed we would just need to get something at the train station, but no! They were able to help and accommodate us with an early breakfast. They had such a nice breakfast ready at 6:15am. Completely unexpected! Also helped to arrange a taxi for us back to the train station. The room was fantastic. Comfortable, clean, cozy. Coffee maker and fridge in the room to help as well. Their courtyard was beautiful. The whole place was just so nice. I was sad we only had one night here. Hands down just a fantastic experience here. You won’t be disappointed!

the service was wonderful and personal. they went out of their way for us multiple times. the room was lovely and comfortable. the buffet breakfast could be better but it certainly wasn't bad. I highly recommend this stay.

Staff was amazing. John also known as Joa put out above and beyond expectation, helping me deal with a crisis. Left my passports at a different hotel, and he was able to arrange to get my passport sent to my final location in time for my flight back to the United States. He was helpful, relaxed, and felt it was just his obligation to help. I thanked him for helping me with this difficult situation and relieving my stress. The food was excellent breakfast service, etc. The location was absolutely perfect for exploring Évora. . I highly recommend this hotel. And thanks to John for excellent service
