I visited this hotel in April for a pre-booked private function and arrived for the dinner buffet. Unfortunately, the buffet was disappointing. There wasn't much variety, and the food lacked flavor. In fact, several dishes tasted very similar, making the selection feel repetitive. By the time I went for dessert, most of the items were almost finished. I pointed this out to one of the managers, who informed the staff, but the desserts were never replenished, which was quite disappointing. We had also ordered a birthday cake from the hotel. On a positive note, the cake looked beautiful, tasted great, and was brought to our table with the music band, making the celebration feel special. However, the remaining cake was packed into a small takeaway container because they didn't have a proper cake box available. For a hotel of this reputation, that was quite disappointing. This used to be one of the best hotels in Kandy and was well known for its excellent food. Unfortunately, it seems that its quality and standards have declined. Overall, it was not a very satisfying experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Thilanka while celebrating our parents’ anniversary, and it was truly a memorable experience. ❤️ When we informed the hotel about the special occasion, the team went above and beyond to arrange a beautiful surprise for our parents. Their thoughtful gesture made the celebration even more special and unforgettable. 🥰✨ A special shout-out to the amazing staff! Everyone was extremely helpful, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. The rooms were excellent, clean, and comfortable, and the food was absolutely delicious. 🍽️❤️ Thank you, Hotel Thilanka, for making our parents’ anniversary so beautiful and memorable. We truly appreciate your wonderful hospitality and attention to detail. Highly recommended! 🌟

Had the BEST stay here! The staff were absolutely excellent and so friendly — from check-in to check-out they made us feel like family. The birthday cake decoration and the presentation and buffet were on another level food was fantabulous . The BEST i've ever had, I’ve never experienced that kind of detail and care at any other hotel. Thank you for making our celebration unforgettable! Highly recommend! If u need to celebrate ur b'day pls check in to this hotel the chocolate cake was out of this world so soft n yummy. May God Bless you all🙏

One of the best hotels we’ve spent a vacation in. We luckily caught a half-board discounted offer. The buffet spread, the vibe and the music was amazing. Rooms were top quality. All amenities were available. The antique authentic style decor was beautiful! The service staff is super helpful and kind. We brought in a visitor to have some breakfast at the buffet and they even gave us a discount. The pool area, the view from the hotel and the space itself was top notch. Absolutely loved the experience.

We had an amazing birthday party at Thilanka Hotel on the 18th June. A special thank you to Mr. Chaminda and his team for making everything so smooth until the very end of the party. The location was beautiful, the food was great, and the service was excellent. They even helped us arrange a birthday cake within minutes, which was a huge help. Thank you once again for making our celebration special and memorable. Highly recommended!

Lovely view and soft, comfortable beds to sleep in for the night. The single, only problem I had was the waiter at the restaurant kept asking me, “are you okay, is everything good?” literally every 2 minutes. After saying “yes, thank you” multiple times, he stands there and starts a conversation, and once, just stands there and looks at me. The only thing I want to do is eat my food in peace. Lastly, after the only thing he brought me was a cappuccino (as it was a buffet so I fetch my own food), I gave a 1000 lkr tip. He was visibly upset with this and his over-friendliness completely disappeared. I didn’t dare to go back to the restaurant after this. Food was good, however!

Choosing Thilanka Hotel, Kandy for our Catholic wedding reception on April 6, 2026, was one of the best decisions we made throughout our wedding planning journey. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Chaminda Fernando and Ms. Sanjeeva for their incredible support from the planning stage until the end of our reception. They were always patient, professional, and genuinely cared about making our day perfect. Even with our last minute changes and requests, they handled everything smoothly and made the entire process completely stress-free. On our wedding day, while we were busy greeting our guests, we never had to worry about anything because the Thilanka Hotel team managed everything so efficiently. The hospitality was exceptional, and the service provided to our family and friends was outstanding. One of the moments we'll cherish forever was the surprise they helped me arrange for my husband with a special cake and the live band. They also beautifully organized another surprise cake for my father's birthday, which happened to fall on our wedding day. These thoughtful gestures made our celebration even more memorable, and we are so grateful for the effort the entire team put into making those moments so special. We also stayed at the hotel, and every request we made was accommodated with kindness and professionalism. The team truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable and unforgettable experience. The food deserves a special mention it was absolutely delicious! Many of our guests complimented the quality, variety, and taste of the buffet, and even today they still talk about how wonderful it was. Thank you once again to Mr. Chaminda Fernando, Ms. Sanjeeva, and the entire Thilanka Hotel team for making our wedding day so memorable. Your dedication, warmth, and exceptional service exceeded all our expectations. If you're looking for a wedding venue with outstanding hospitality, amazing food, and a team that genuinely cares about making your special day perfect, I highly recommend Thilanka Hotel. This was our second visit to Thilanka Hotel, with our previous stay being around 2023. Overall, it was another enjoyable experience, and the hotel continues to be one of our preferred places to stay in Kandy. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. However, the rooms we stayed in on the 4th floor felt a little older compared to the rooms we experienced during our previous visit. Despite that, they were well-maintained and provided a pleasant stay. One of the hotel's biggest advantages is its location. It is extremely close to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa), making it possible for many guests to visit the temple on foot. For anyone planning a visit to Kandy's most iconic attraction, the location is hard to beat. We stayed on a Full Board package at a very reasonable rate through a credit card promotion, which offered excellent value for money. The food was a major highlight of our stay, just as it was during our previous visit. Dinner and breakfast were served as buffets with a good variety of options, while lunch was a three-course set menu that was also delicious and well-presented. The hotel itself is beautiful, with stunning views of Kandy. The swimming pool was the standout feature for us and remains one of the most attractive areas of the property. It was especially beautiful in the evening, creating a relaxing atmosphere after a day of sightseeing. If you're planning to visit Dalada Maligawa and are looking for a nearby hotel that offers comfort, great food, beautiful views, and excellent value, Thilanka Hotel is a fantastic choice and one that we would happily recommend.
