Fortuna Retreat was truly a hidden gem and honestly had the best hotel view I’ve ever experienced. The panoramic view of the volcano from our room looked completely unreal — like a postcard or a screensaver. I genuinely think I’ll be thinking about that view forever. The property itself is smaller, which made it feel peaceful, secluded, and really special compared to larger resorts. Everything was very clean, the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the service throughout our stay was great. It also felt like the perfect balance of being tucked away in nature while still being close enough to town and activities. Overall, we absolutely loved staying here, but the volcano view alone made it unforgettable.

My new husband and I spent our honeymoon here and we didn't want to leave! The staff are the nicest people and so very helpful even before we arrived. They assisted with scheduling tours and transportation and provided excellent resturant recommendations. The other staff were just as friendly and we loved the extra touches and thoughtfulness they put into the rooms and environment. It was quiet and safe and we enjoyed walking to get breakfast nearby. The room itself was magical and clean and well appointed. We loved how private it felt. We are hoping to return to this beautiful place again!

We absolutely loved our stay in the premium villa at Fortuna Retreat—the whole experience was a dream! The location is perfect (within 6 to 15 minutes of everything) and you can see the Arenal Volcano from your villa. The grounds are gorgeous, quiet, and completely gated. I appreciated having parking right outside our villa, and all guests were incredibly mindful of noise. Our villa had a stunning bathroom and a private plunge pool that was perfect for cooling down between tours. We opted for the breakfast-included package; the restaurant is a quick 3-minute walk offsite, which actually added to the authentic experience. We would definitely stay here again!

I really enjoyed my stay at Fortuna Retreat and I wish I could have stayed more than one night. The room was clean, comfortable, and the view was absolutely stunning (even though the volcano was hidden behind clouds). The staff were so friendly and helpful. They booked guided tours for me and a shuttle to San Jose airport. I also enjoyed relaxing in the pool. In order to get to the La Fortuna town center, I had to take Uber, which was around $3 USD per ride. I strongly recommend this hotel!

A beautiful small boutique hotel. A handful of rooms so felt really exclusive. All members of staff were lovely and very helpful. We had a ground floor room which was perfect. Opened the curtains in the morning to an amazing view of the volcano (luckily, we had a few days of none or little cloud). The bathroom was one of the best we have had. It was lovely to open the doors and bring the 'outside' in when having a shower.|Breakfast was a very short walk away at another hotel and was ok but limited choice. After 3 days of it, we went into town instead.|Town is about a 20 - 30 minute walk or an uber is around £3- £4 UK Sterling.|A very minor issue which was a little disappointing. My partner celebrated his Birthday whilst we were there and I notified them in advance. I also mentioned it to reception the morning of his birthday. They said they would sort something and even popped to our room to ask when we would be out so they could 'clean the windows' whilst giving me a cheeky wink and a grin. We went out, came back a few hours later and nothing had been done sadly which was a shame.|If I ever decide to visit Costa Rica again I would stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Fortuna Retreat. The room was beautiful and comfortable and staff was incredibly helpful and so nice. It was our first trip to Costa Rica together and our stay helped make our time there so special. Five stars across the board. Thank you!

Our stay at the Fortuna Retreat was perfect!! The rooms were perfectly clean and were beautiful. It was the perfect place to relax in beauty after days of adventure. This place is tucked away off of the main drag, which I loved. The front office was so helpful with recommendations and booking things for us. Never pushy, just extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel breakfast is off the property, but just a short walk and the perfect way to get your morning started! We were sad to leave!! If you like a quieter, relaxing stay, this is your place.
