Room is lovely, bed very comfortable, and we had a view of the plaza where the summer concerts are held. Very cool - we were able to watch sound checks during the day. The walk to and from our concert was literally steps. Nice! Negative was the room and bathroom size. We had no where to open our suitcases and the bathroom has limited space for two people’s toiletries. Breakfast provided was very nice, varied and fresh. Staff polite and helpful.

We stayed at Grand Universe Lucca from 14 to 17 August 2026 and had an excellent experience. Our room was fantastic: spacious, comfortable and beautifully finished, with a particularly large and lovely shower. The service throughout our stay was outstanding, and every member of staff we encountered was genuinely friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious, the bar is a great place to have a drink, and the gym was excellent. The location is perfect for exploring Lucca on foot, but also makes the hotel a great base for day trips to places such as Pisa and Cinque Terre. Overall, a wonderful hotel with excellent facilities, a great location and, above all, genuinely friendly staff. We would happily stay here again!

We had a fantastic time at the Grand Universe Hotel in Lucca. It is located right in the middle of the old city, surrounded by plazas and cathedrals. There was an opera show right around the corner that was just beautiful. The staff are so friendly and helpful, we immediately felt at home. The room was comfortable and very clean. Like all rooms in Italy, it  is a bit compact but they make amazing use of the space. The breakfast was delicious and had a huge variety of delicious offerings. The rooftop bar is small but has a beautiful view. We loved our stay here and are looking forward to returning.

Firstly let me start by saying that Lucca is a beautiful city and a definite must see.|The hotel was pleasant. The staff were really lovely and couldn’t fault them on anything.|The location of the hotel was great but if you are in a hired car, ask for specific directions to the hotel, it will definitely save you time as you have to get a special pass from the hotel which only allows your vehicle in for 15 minutes, after which you need to exit the gated town and park in one of the allocated parking areas or the hotel does suggest a parking bay inside the wolled in city at an additional cost. |We traveled as a family of five, my husband and I took a suit room and our three kids took an additional two rooms. |Our room was very large and spacious and very clean.|The kids got allocated more entry-level rooms rooms and were much smaller but clean and well serviced. |Their rooms were well air-conditioef however our room, 308 to be exact, did not get cool in the four nights that we stayed there. |We did reach out to the reception and they had to manually reset our air-conditioning which they did promptly, however the temperature did not drop. They then sent up a technician who said everything was working, however they did not manage to fix the problem.|If you are wanting laundry done, keep in mind it is only done from Monday to Friday.| For turn down service you get no complementary waters but we phoned reception and they brought up waters with 2 minutes.|As far as location and what Lucca has to offer, it’s a beautiful city with a great vibe and incredible pet friendly.

Location and cleanliness were impeccable. The hotel seems very new unlike what we have experienced so far in Italy. Room leans towards small size but the facilities are new and modern so that makes up for the comfort. Staff were also very helpful and friendly. 2 stars off for very loud noises in the morning. Poor sound insulation. We could hear everything, from metals clinking to trucks reversing and beeping. We were not made aware that there’d be construction going on outside and for the price we paid, it should have been managed much better.

A really lovely Marriott Autograph collection hotel. Awesome location. Food is as expected. Staff and service are top notch. Gym, for a hotel, is fine and good. It's a historic hotel, which comes with the typical historic hotel room size, smallish. The room is well appointed and has what you need. Special shout out for the rooftop bar - it has an incredible view - and super romantic after dark. Also noteworthy is the "experience" offerings the hotel emailed a few weeks before arriving. In my 30+ years of Marriott patronage, this hotel's readiness for guests is superior. Highly recommend

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this property sets a gold standard for excellence. The cleanliness was impeccable throughout the entire hotel, and our spacious room felt like a true sanctuary. After a long day of exploring, returning to such a comfortable bed was exactly what we needed. The location is also unbeatable—perfectly situated to make getting around effortless. What truly sets this place apart, however, is the staff. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect, offering the kind of personalized service that is rare to find. Their helpfulness and attention to detail made us feel incredibly valued. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Five stars all the way!

My wife and I stayed here for one night in AUG 2026. We were well received by the staff in the receptionist. All very kind and helpful. The hotel looks brand new - and everything is absolutely nice. The rooms are nice and big. The bathrooms looks brand new. The breakfast was great and tasty. Overall very nice here in Lucca.
