Pros: |The location is undeniably the highlight. Driving through kilometers of olive groves to reach the hotel is a dream, and the view from the property is breathtaking. The pool area is well-maintained, and there is plenty of parking available. Cons: |Unfortunately, the "dream" ended once we entered our attic room. Despite temperatures exceeding 35°C in August, the room was equipped only with an ancient, loud monoblock air conditioner. The real kicker? It only works when the key card is inserted. This meant the room turned into a literal oven while we were out, with the brick walls radiating heat well into the night. We spent seven nights choosing between sleep-depriving noise or unbearable heat. It turns out "rest" wasn't included in the price. While the common areas enjoy modern, silent split-unit ACs, the attic guests seem to be treated as an afterthought. This “necessary evil” mood was also reflected in the behavior of the owner, who was friendly at first, but then quickly seemed indifferent and uninterested. The on-site restaurant is decent but overpriced for what it offers. Be prepared for a language barrier: the staff speaks only Italian. If you’re unlucky, your request for a lemonade might result in a Limoncello—refreshing, sure, but not quite what you asked for. Verdict: |If you enjoy 35-degree rooms and the sound of a jet engine while you sleep, the attic is for you. Otherwise, stay elsewhere or insist on a room in the lower floors.

We stayed at the villa for four nights. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by a very kind lady who escorted us to our room. The first thing we noticed was that there was no Wi-Fi signal in our room. We reported it immediately, and they assured us they would look into it and do their best to resolve the issue. The following day, we placed the "Do Not Disturb / No Housekeeping" sign on our door. Unfortunately, when we returned later, we found that our room had been cleaned and our belongings had been tidied up despite our request. We mentioned this right away to a lady (who I believe was the owner), and she sincerely apologized several times while immediately looking for a solution. Unfortunately, the service in the restaurant was rather slow and didn't quite meet our expectations. We had one lunch and one dinner there, but after that we usually chose to eat elsewhere. Also, the €5 coperto felt a bit expensive to us. So why did I still give this place four stars? Because despite these issues, the place itself is wonderful, and the staff are genuinely kind, helpful, and eager to solve any problems. The Wi-Fi issue was resolved, and they handled every concern we raised quickly and professionally. They're human too—mistakes can happen. What really matters is how they respond, and they did an excellent job. I'm happy to give that missing fifth star on our next visit, because we definitely plan to come back. Hopefully, next time I'll also be able to praise the restaurant as much as the hotel. We wish you all the best, and thank you for your hospitality!

Despite our early arrival, Marco graciously accommodated us immediately. The room offered stunning views of the mountains, which set the tone for a fantastic stay. After check-in, we explored the hotel area and took in the breathtaking scenery. For lunch, we dined at the hotel's restaurant and enjoyed Prosciutto Melone paired with a glass of prosecco. The meal was excellent, and I highly recommend trying the hotel's own olive oil and wines – they are a must-taste! We spent the afternoon by the pool, which was a peaceful and pleasant spot. The infinity pool was a highlight, offering spectacular views. It wasn't crowded, so we could relax and enjoy the sun and scenery in peace. In the evening, we drove to the city of Lucca. We spent the night there and returned to the hotel quite late. I highly recommend having your own car or scooter for convenience and ease of travel. Breakfast at the hotel was fantastic and included in the price. There was a large variety of breads, croissants, cheeses, tomato mozzarella, coffee, and yogurts. Everything was fresh and delicious, providing a great start to our day. On our last night, we tried dinner at the hotel. The dinner slot was between 8-9 pm, which was a brilliant time as the sunset transformed the lighting of the entire valley during dinner. There were plenty of options to choose from, and we also tried the hotel's own wine, which was excellent! Overall, we loved this hotel and will definitely return. The views, food, and hospitality were top-notch, making it a memorable experience. Highly recommended for a serene and beautiful getaway. Big thanks to Marco and the team!

WARNING!!! This place is extremely deceitful. We booked a room on Booking.com and when we arrived, we were shown to 3 different rooms none of which looked anything like what we booked. We later realised that they use the best photos of multiple different rooms and advertise it as one the manager is extremely rude and refused to help us with anything that we needed. He was also extremely rude to the other staff member on a positive note. The woman who welcomed us was extremely lovely. Marco is not a very nice person 😂. When I spoke to Booking.com, I had found out that Marco lied to them telling them the room was as advertised. We decided not to stay as we felt very uncomfortable by him

We spent 10 days in this absolutely wonderful place. The room was spacious, the food really amazing and the views just impeccable. The whole hotel and its gardens, including infinity pool with views down the hills with Lucca in the distance, is to die for. Above all this the service was really great by all staff and they went above and beyond to accommodate all our special wishes. We highly recommend Hotel Villa Volpi and will definitely be staying here when we are next in the region.

What can I say, it’s just fantastic. Marco, who owns the place is so welcoming, the staff are great, the guests are all very friendly. The pool is absolutely perfect. Yes it’s cool water, but it’s all clean, inside and out. Lots of lovely chairs to recline in also. We have two girls, both usually complain they are bored, not a word from either of them and we are 5 days here so far ! :) It’s a villa hotel, so you get that sense when you arrive, but honestly so what :). The rooms are all nice, we had one on the ground floor, meaning we had our own terrace, we also had the option to go out the back straight to the pool. The views here are simply amazing, I can’t even put into words how amazing the views are. You really do get a sense you are taking a break. The atmosphere here is so good, you just get that wonderful sense of relaxation. You really do unplug :) Now for food: You have breakfast at 0830 - 0930. It’s the usual coffee, tea, cakes, croissants, and a selection of fruits. A buffet, and it’s more than fine. For lunch it’s between 13:00 - 14:00 either a light bruschetta, or you can ask the staff and they will make a pasta dish for the kids if required:). We have one very fussy eater, she has so far eaten everything served! For dinner it’s usually between 2030 - 2230 but if your feeling hungry sooner no problem the staff can make you something nice :) Drinks wise, there is a bar there, you can order wines, champagne, Prosecco, spirits etc, and of course all the usual soft drinks also :) There are taxis you can order also to Lucca, or Pisa if you want to explore, ideally though I would advise renting a car if you can. Again a fabulous place, great staff, amazing views. Above all though, it recharges your soul !

We arrived and went inside the guy took us to the first room and it wasn’t good. It didn’t look like the picture and you could hear some interesting activity’s upstairs, asked for another room and didn’t give us what we paid for once again. He finally showed us to a room far away and we walked in and it was damp and musty. Apparently it was dedicated to the winery but the wine hadn’t been dusted in what looked like over 12 years and I had to sleep on a camp stretcher. Not great. Dinner was nice. I’m fairly sure it was the owners wife who was serving us. Didn’t give us horse. In the listing it said good wifi. It wasn’t good. The view was great but the rooms weren’t.

|Liked · If you are researching this hotel you will see others say that the manager is as bonkers as a box of broken biscuits... he is indeed, however, it what i call the " marmite" effect. i loved him and accepted his quirky nature, we could see clearly though that others did not. he was awfully curt with some guests!. The villa itself is utterly breathtaking and will not disappoint. we found lunch was lovely (and were provided for after the service closed) breakfast was mediocre. they produce their own wine and olive oil, both were excellent and very very reasonably priced. landscaping is impeccable. Disliked · this hotel is NOT 5.5KM as implied on every sight we looked on (Most important thing i can say is that a taxi one way from lucca was 40 euro's. as we did it twice and one at around midnight we ended up spending nearly 200 euros on taxi fares. our driver set his meter and it was over 17KM just short of 20). and is zone three ( so when you leave villa the money goes flying up instantly ( we were lucky but make sure your driver amends the meter at every zone he enters) it is nowhere near lucca itself so expect additional costs. taxi rank is immediately outside station so readily accessible but do not believe the pin and distance as the taxi fares soon add up which we found to our cost, oh, don,t think about biking its an insane incline upwards. i hope this helps somebody with their booking decisions. it really is worth the extra its gorgeous and the views are spectacular
