A beautiful resort surrounded by nature, greenery, and a peaceful atmosphere away from the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the resort is well equipped for a short holiday. However, the lack of air conditioning made the stay uncomfortable during the late June heatwave. The living room curtains did not provide enough privacy, the old spring mattress was uncomfortable, there was no phone in the apartment to contact reception, and there was no gym despite it being listed on Booking.com. Overall, it's a lovely place, but several important improvements are needed.

We absolutely loved our stay at dormio. Rooms - Generously sized and the beds were very comfortable. 15 of us stayed in a 20 person house and had ample space! Also, the sauna and BBQ were an epic inclusion. Location - nestled on the outskirts of Maastricht, the area is quite quiet and is a good 45 minute walk from the city. Bus links are nearby and driving take about 10 minutes. Facilities - everything was shut for carnaval which was a shame, but the tennis and padel courts, football pitches, golf course and dry ski slope all looked great. There is also a shop and restaurant within the complex.

The Dormio Resort is located a short distance outside Maastricht. It is quite a walk to the bus stop but if you have a car it is absolutely fine. The surrounding wooded areas are very nice, as is the village itself. We stayed for 13 nights in the Castellum apartments which are towards the back of the village and it was generally quiet save for the sound of people letting the bicycle storage door slam later at night.|As we were staying for 13 nights while I visited Maastricht University we were shocked to find that all we were given was 1 roll of toilet paper, two towels each, one bath mat and two tea towels. No cleaning was included, no change of linen, no extra towels etc, regardless of whether you stayed 1 night or 13. Hence this is not really a longer stay option. However, we also found that the bed mattress was collapsing foam rubber and was truly awful to sleep in. There is no toaster, no hairdryer, no air-conditioning and no screens on windows or doors. When the temperature climbed dramatically for our last few days it was like an oven.|Two of the three pools in the Castellum Buildings (including ours) were closed and being used as storage facilities - see photo 1 - a professional sign so clearly no intention of it being open as a pool. But worse - the one that was "working" was closed due to technical difficulties almost the entire duration of our stay (see photo 2). The resort pool is full of small kids and not suitable for adults.|The staff we encountered at reception were totally disinterested and when we asked if we could check out 30 mins later than normal we were told there would be an additional charge! Yet we got nothing back for the facilities not working.|Overall, this is not suitable for longer stays and there is no way this place is a 4-star resort as advertised. It is operated in a super-stingy and unfriendly manner. We would definitely not recommend it for overseas visitors to Maastricht regardless of whether it is a very short or longer stay.

The location is great for people with a car or who are very comfortable biking moderate distances. The resort is in a commercial/residential suburb, sort of like an American office park, so the atmostphere is kind of sterile. There is free parking, but the pictures make it seem like parking is right at each unit, and that's not true for townhouse style (attached) units. I was surprised that at a chain resort at this price point, there was no air conditioning. That's my fault, I suppose, for making assumptions based on my home context. At least there were windows that could be opened (and vented at the top), and the front desk lent me a fan to use. Rather than "resort" in the American sense, think of this as a collection of VRBO/Airbnb units close together with a central check-in desk. Front desk staffing was uneven: there were two very nice people, but also three people I encountered during my stay who were bothered to have to talk to guests. The most surprising experience was the restaurant: despite being the restaurant for a resort, they close at 8:00 PM and were not willing to seat my family at 7:20 PM on the day of our arrival. Staff at the restaurant were dismissive, and the waiter said to the maitre d', right in front of us, "no, I don't want to do another table." I asked next door in the registration area about this and they explained that the restaurant ignores them too. They tried to call the restaurant, but the restaurant wouldn't pick up. My nice friends weren't on the front desk at the time, so when I asked for suggestions about what to do for food (this was the first night, so I didn't have my footing on parking in town yet and wanted to avoid having to learn when I was so jet-lagged), they just shrugged and said "drive into town or maybe order something to be delivered," then turned away. I was pleasantly surprised that the atmosphere remained relaxing: we had our windows open all night and we were located right across from the front desk and the restaurant, but noise was never a problem. If I were going to Maastricht again for sightseeing, I would not recommend Dormio. The space in the unit initially attracted us, but in the summer it wasn't very pleasant to be in the unit anyway. I would have stayed in smaller accommodations in town where food would be available.

Room was not clean, no water , no coffee , no soup for washing or showering in room Just spiders in front of my face while Iam entering the room and also in bathroom Last time for me her in Dormio. Resort and I will not recommend it for any friend

Great location but the staff on front desk are very slow and unfriendly. Oh and you have to buy toilet paper and coffee pods after you use 2 rolls and 4 coffee pods - they are not restocked. I think that is unsatisfactory at the price you pay for the accommodation

I have recently booked an extended stay at this hotel with my friends. However, our plans have been cancelled due to the ongoing war happening in the middle east. We have tried to contact the hotel multiple times in order to receive a refund due to us not able to leave our country yet the hotel refuses to honor the refund even though there were extenuating circumstances beyond our control. Extremely unprofessional and a hotel that takes these circumstances as extra profit and pocketing money from our inability to even reach their hotel. I do not recommend booking with this hotel as they don’t take in account emergency circumstances.
