The hostel is very close to the bus and train station. It has a very lovely garden with possibilities to sit there, a small but well-equipped functional kitchen in a basement and an indoor place to chill. It has a neat modern and peaceful vibe, 24/7 reception and a possibility to rent umbrellas. I only stayed one night and didn't use the bar nor their breakfast service. I stayed in a 12-bed dorm room. The bed was very comfortable, with a shelf, light and a normal power socket (230V). The locker was big enough and even the upper one was accessible for a rather short person. The only disadvantage is that there are no privacy curtains and the light next to the door cannot be turned off during the night, so the room isn't completely dark and I stayed in a bed closer to the door. Therefore, do not forget your eye mask. Otherwise, there are two toilets in the corridor and three showers with sinks and hair-dryers for ladies. I believe there are 3 showers for men as well. Another common bathroom is next to the kitchen. The shower doesn't have any rug or shelf, only one hook but I found a dry spot to place my things. No toiletries are provided. Except for the room light during the night I enjoyed my stay and would return.

PROS : To put it simply, the highlight of this accommodation is its location. It’s situated very close to Maastricht Station, allowing for a safe 7–8 minute walk. The room rate, which includes breakfast, is very affordable. You can also access a high-quality dry sauna and hammam (by Dutch standards) for €22.50, which was a truly relaxing experience. The front desk and bar staff was very kind. I was particularly impressed by how she remained calm and friendly while assisting everyone, even when there was a line of guests waiting. CONS : I stayed in a private room, not a hostel dorm, but the lack of soundproofing made it a VERY difficult stay; I woke up several times throughout the night. My room was located right next to the door leading from the common area to the hallway. I could clearly hear the sound of people swiping their keycards and the door slamming shut all night long, which made it impossible to rest peacefully. Furthermore, the room was freezing. I tried to turn on the heater via the air conditioning unit, but even at the highest temperature setting, it remained so cold that I had to sleep wearing my jacket. Even in the mild April weather, it felt warmer outside than inside the room. Lastly, the hygiene and maintenance were disappointing. The bathroom had a unique open-shower layout, but the sink and the seating area were dirty. Even the chairs provided in the room did not look clean.

This is a hostel with some really good style choices, but more importantly a really good choice in employees as well. I felt really welcomed, really at ease. The hostel is located really close to the train station, which allowed me to just walk over there for my trips to Germany without having to worry about my bike being close to me or not. I also love the “urban forest” 🌳 Too bad no one explained to me where to prepare or store food. I haven’t yet met many people in Maastricht and was hoping to meet one or two while staying here, but the set-up is not that conducive to getting to know new people. There were crusted bloodstains on my pillows and other types of stains on the blanket. Makes you wonder what the H housekeeping was thinking, but OK. Trying to get them replaced ended up keeping me up at night, and since I was bound to a check-out time of 11 AM, I didn’t get much sleep. The friendly German night receptionist of the adjacent hotel did help me out to the best of his ability. The wellness was a really nice addition and I got offered usage of the wellness by means of compensation, but I do have to say, I got a little bit overheated and the cold water in the showers was not cold enough for me to efficiently cool off. It was nice to have the wellness all to myself for that one hour, however. I was a bit annoyed to see that they still charged me the tourist tax, since I’m a resident of the Social Hub/Student Hotel in Maastricht but it’s a minor annoyance. Had the employees not been so nice, I would probably not have returned here because the bedding was really gross. The only reason why I was here this week was because relatives temporarily needed my room at the Social Hub. If I ever find myself longing to be in Maastricht again after my semester here has ended, who knows, I just might book another stay (but please, make sure houskeeping checks the bedding more carefully from now on!).

This is one of the nicer Backpackers I’ve stayed in. It has only one bunk in each pod so you’re really separate from everybody else. The location is three hours from Amsterdam although it is very very close to the train station I loved the free fruit and the outside areas. There was two nice garden areas. The only thing I didn’t appreciate or enjoy was I booked in so late at night and it just happened to be handover and the lady could not help me as she was busy counting her hotel and finishing her day so therefore I did not get my free welcome drink. I thought it was just the water on the bar when I asked if there was any food she said no and did not offer me any fruit which of course I realised it’s free so there was food. Another couple were trying to book in at the same time as me so I gave them the computer. I really wish that the woman behind the bar could have told me there was a second computer. I guess she was just having a bad day. I also had had a bad day although it’s not a competition, I had caught the wrong train from Amsterdam and had an hour and a half detour. All my own fault but I was absolutely shattered. I could not think straight when I got there and needed a little help to check In. Highly recommend doing the caves and fort at Saint Petersburg. Enjoy your day.

Don’t book a (couples) pod if you don’t want to sweat all night (especially in summer). It was 29 degrees Celsius in our pod. There was only one small window, but that was nog big enough to cool down the room. I do think it is amazing to stay here during the winter!! And to end with positive feedback: everything was really clean! Also, the hostel was close to the centre. So that was nice.

The hostel seems like a labyrinth at first but you get used to it. It was very strange for me having to pay extra for a towel. Possibility to rent a bike for 16€. Staff was very friendly :) Great location. Overall good experience.

Great location. When we arrived at 3pm our room wasnt ready til 4 even though we were told 10 minutes. Not even so much as an apology for keeping us waiting. If we had have know we would have were out for an hour. We were staying when the Andrew Rieu concert was on so it was very busy. The room was ok with decent bathroom and water provided|I did notice a lot of elderly people struggling with lots of very steep and narrow staircases. Breakfast staff were very helpful|There is a nice garden area available to sit in and have your breakfast. |All in all I wouldn’t return here though it’s in a good location. Steps just to steep for me and our room was up 5 flights of steep stairs with no lift lugging up a case
