Where can I eat near La Piccola Bellagio?

For a meal near La Piccola Bellagio, head into Orvieto's historic center, where you'll find Trattoria La Palomba, Osteria da Mamma Angela, and Trattoria del Moro Aronne, all serving classic Umbrian dishes. Il Malandrino Bistrot and Ristorante Il Cocco are also close by, offering Italian fare in the old town. Since the hotel sits about 427 km from the main sights, you'll need to drive or take transit to reach these restaurants. The hotel itself has no on-site dining, so plan to travel into town for your meals. A taxi or ride-hailing service from the hotel will get you there comfortably.

What is the area around La Piccola Bellagio like?

The hotel sits in the quiet San Giovanni district of Bellagio, with a lake view and a short walk to the pier, beach, and bus stop. The hamlet center, with its square and 16th-century parish church, is directly connected by a private road. Bellagio's promenade is less than 10 minutes away on foot, and Loppia hamlet and Villa Melzi Gardens are also within easy walking distance. The area is calm and residential, yet well connected for exploring the lakefront.

How do I get to La Piccola Bellagio from the airport or main train station?

From Orvieto's train station in Orvieto Scalo, take the funicular up to Piazza Cahen, then a short walk or local bus to the hotel. The funicular runs every 15 minutes and takes about two minutes. If arriving by car, exit the A1 motorway at Orvieto and follow signs to the historic center, about 5 kilometers away. The nearest airports are Perugia Sant'Egidio (90 km), Rome Fiumicino (130 km), and Rome Ciampino (140 km), all reachable by car or train. From the station, taxis are also available in Piazzale Matteotti.

What's there to do near La Piccola Bellagio in the evening?

For a change of scene, the nearby sights like Pozzo della Cava and the Orvieto Cathedral are within a short walk, though they are quite far at over 400 km, so you would need a car or transit to reach them. The city offers evening tours, such as an aperitif in front of the Duomo and a tour of the Orvieto Underground caves, which are popular activities. You could also consider a winery tour with wine tasting, which often includes a meal, as a pleasant evening option. The hotel's location is quiet, so you can relax on the terrace with a view, and then head out to explore the local dining spots in the area.

Is La Piccola Bellagio a good base for exploring Orvieto?

La Piccola Bellagio is in Orvieto, but the main sights are far from the hotel: Pozzo della Cava is 427.2 km away, and Orvieto Cathedral is 427.7 km. That means exploring the city requires a car or transit trip, not a walk. The hotel is a calm spot to return to after a day out. For getting around, a taxi or ride-hailing service is the simplest way to reach the historic center. The popular tours, like the E-bike experience or winery tastings, are good ways to see the area. So, it works as a base if you plan to travel to the sights rather than walk to them.

We had high expectations due to the price, but we was disappointed. Its not a hotel, its more of an Airbnb in my opinion. The views are fantastic, there is no denying that, however the bed was terrible, I never had a good night's sleep at all and neither did my partner, we was contemplating leaving after the first night. The shower floods the bathroom everytime. They left snacks and vouchers for a nearby cafe, which is a brilliant establishment by the way. Credit where its due. The staff were pleasant and helpful when checking in, but after 7pm they go home. If you dont have a vehicle then it can be difficult, it is a fair walk from the centre. I wouldn't stay again, there are far better accommodations out there for that sort of price, I just wish we went somewhere else as it was our last break before the baby arrives and its been tiring.

Great big room with a spectacular panorama-view over Bellagio. Everything very clean. We're going back there this year. Only downside is the breakfast where you have to walk ca 200m to get a coffee and croissant. But thats fine. Quiet neighbourhood. Private parking.

Had a lovely stay here, the poor reviews are a little unfair|Room was spacious with a great view and there were shutters and sheer curtains|The place isn’t underground at all |Bathroom layout was quirky but no big deal|Breakfast at the cafe was delicious and it’s about a 3-4 mins walk walk away - we did takeaway and ate on our lovely balcony|Staff super friendly and helpful - they picked us up from the ferry and also dropped us back into bellagio for a trip. This is offered during the day, it’s a half hour walk up hill from bellagio|Roof terrace for relaxing|It is more of an aparthotel |Dinner locally at the PUB was delicious, opposite the breakfast cafe |Recommend as long as you are aware that you are not in the centre of busy bellagio

This place should NOT be listed as a hotel. There is no real reception and no 24/7 assistance, even though this is stated. Before arrival, we received a message saying we had to arrive before 7 PM, otherwise we would have to do the self check-in ourselves. This is completely unacceptable for something that presents itself as a hotel. When we entered the room, we were hit by a strong and unbearable mold smell. The walls were dirty and damaged, the floor was sticky, and we found hair on the pillow. The room did NOT look at all like the photos on Booking. We also found insects in the room. The “included breakfast” is a lie. We received two juices and two croissants left at the door, plus a €5 voucher for a nearby bakery. This is not what breakfast included means. Even though it says on the door that assistance is available 24/7, when we wrote to them, they did not respond. The messages were seen and ignored. When we called, we were told nothing could be done that evening. We spent 6–7 hours in contact with Booking trying to resolve the situation, while the property did not respond even to their calls. It was already 1 AM and, being exhausted after a long journey, we were forced to sleep in a dirty room, full of mold smell, without a blanket (only a sheet). The next day we left immediately, even though we had paid for two nights, and had to quickly find another accommodation. If it had been possible and it wasn’t already 1 AM and difficult to find another place, we would have left from the first night. At the “reception”, the staff was extremely rude. They pretended not to know about our problem, even though we had messaged on WhatsApp and spoken on the phone with her the night before, when she told us nothing could be done that night and that even though they had available rooms, she could not come. We checked on Booking and there were actually 3 rooms available. The next morning she lied and told us there were no rooms available anymore :))) But even at that moment she did not offer to change our room, even though she had seen the insects, the dirt and the smell. I have never met a more rude and confrontational person. When other tourists were passing through reception, she would suddenly lower her voice, even though she had been speaking to us in a very loud and aggressive tone, telling us that she also has humidity and smell in her own home… We explained that we were paying for a €200 per night hotel, that the photos do not match Booking and that we should not have these problems. The problem with this place is that there is absolutely no hygiene, it is not clean, it is very unpleasant and smells horrible. When we showed all the photos we had taken and pointed out how dirty the floor was, they immediately sent someone to clean. We could not stay there, even though we had been told we could change the room the next day. In reality, they later told us there were no rooms available, even though we had seen on Booking that there were still 3 available. This was the worst vacation we have ever had and the worst accommodation experience of our lives, especially for a price of €200 per night. They completely ruined our vacation and the entire vibe we had. In the end, they refunded only the night in which we decided to leave, but for the night in which we were forced to stay there, we received nothing. We could not even sleep – we had to put our own clothes over their pillows and keep the window open because the smell was unbearable. We will take this further and file complaints with consumer protection authorities, because we stayed in an unhygienic environment and still ended up losing money. We were not shown even 1% compassion by the blonde lady at the reception. I have never met such a rude person in my life. She was literally raising her voice at us, but when other tourists passed by, she would suddenly lower her tone. I don’t know how the other rooms are, but for us this was the most horrible experience we have ever had with any accommodation, especially at such a high price. RUN RUN RUN!!!

very far from centre and says on page that there’s a shuttle! Never once were we told during the course of our stay about said shuttle and had to walk 30 min up and down to the centre or it was €28 in an uber for a 10 min drive.. insane.. and also I think we were given the worst room in the whole hotel. We were told we had a lovely room and upgraded lake view, the room we were given is not shown in any pictures. It is obvious why this is, was very small and looked nothing like the other pictures of the room we booked. We complained and nothing was done than an offering of a bottle of wine or prosecco (which was already complimentary as we were asked before our arrival which of the two we would like but was not given on arrival, only after complaining). Don’t get me wrong the view is lovely and room is clean other than chipped paint work on the wall, we even left a day early as we were so disappointed. Lady at reception was not very nice after we checked out also, unfortunately I would not recommend here unless it’s guaranteed you are not on the bottom floor (-1).

Im not one to leave reviews but Service was absolutely amazing. Natalie was truly great, helped us with everything and always had a smile. Room was very clean and tidy, terrace area has a beautiful view and she even offered to drive us down to the ferry so that we didnt have to call a taxi. Great option if you want to avoid the pricy hotels
