AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Saint-Jean is Saint Barthélemy's signature beach — a sweeping arc of white sand and turquoise water on the island's north shore, made even more extraordinary by the small aircraft that skim just metres overhead on their final approach to Gustaf III Airport. It's where the Caribbean's most glamorous beach scene meets one of the world's most spectacular landing strips.↗↗
The bay is divided into two by the rocky outcrop that holds the legendary Eden Rock hotel, with beach clubs, boutiques and restaurants running along the sand in between. This is the island's social heart — calm enough for families, lively enough for jet-setters, and always worth at least a full day of your itinerary.↗↗
Two Bays, One Spectacle
Saint-Jean unfurls in a large arched bay roughly a kilometre long — one of the longest beaches on Saint Barth. The Eden Rock headland bisects it into two distinct worlds. To the west, the runway side: Pelican Beach and La Plage stretch along white sand with a shallow, calm turquoise lagoon, photographers stationed to catch planes on final approach. To the east, the beach takes on a chic seaside energy — iconic hotels, lounge chairs, cocktails and beach clubs, with slightly more wave exposure.
