AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Klein Bonaire is a tiny, uninhabited coral island just 800 meters off the coast of Kralendijk, Bonaire — and it packs an extraordinary punch for a place with no buildings, no roads, and no Wi-Fi. Home to No Name Beach, one of the most beautiful white-sand stretches in the Caribbean, and ringed by some of the healthiest reefs in the region, this 6-square-kilometer islet is the essential day trip from Bonaire.↗↗
Reaching the island is part of the adventure: there are no piers, so you wade ashore through shallow turquoise water after a quick 15-minute boat ride. Once you're there, the main draws are world-class snorkeling from shore, drift snorkeling along outer reef walls, sea turtle encounters, and simply unwinding on a beach that feels impossibly pristine for something so close to a town.↗↗
What Makes It Special
Klein Bonaire has been part of the Bonaire National Marine Park since 1979, meaning its coral formations are among the best-preserved in the entire Caribbean. More than 350 fish species and 57 coral species inhabit these waters, and the strict protection rules — no spearfishing, no touching coral, no motorboat anchoring on the reef — have maintained a biodiversity that dwarfs comparable sites elsewhere. The island is also a Ramsar wetland site since 1980, recognized internationally for its ecological importance.
