AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Emporios Beach is the small, easy-going bay beach tucked into the harbour-side village of Emporios on southern Chios. A few steps from the tavernas and just off the road, it pairs crystal-clear Aegean water with a pebble shore that stays uncrowded even in summer.↗↗
What makes it a satisfying stop is the blend of convenience and character: tidy amenities (showers, a beach bar, sun loungers), reliably excellent bathing water, a gentle entry suited to families, and paddle-boarding on offer—while the dramatic black-pebble coves of nearby Mavra Volia and the painted villages of the Mastic region sit within a short walk or drive.↗↗
A pebble bay in a harbour village
Emporios sits on the southwestern coast of Chios, in the area known as the Mastichochoria, or Mastic Villages—the only place on earth where natural mastic resin is cultivated. The beach is the village's own little waterfront rather than a far-flung wilderness: a public, amenity-equipped strip of beige pebbles about 150–160 metres long, hugging the road and lying only around 80 metres from the heart of Emporios. That proximity to the harbour gives it a relaxed, lived-in Greek-island feel, with boats moored close by.
