AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Zobori Adventure Park (Zobori Élménypark) was a family-friendly theme and adventure park perched on a hilltop in Zalaszabar, just 10 km from the spa town of Zalakaros, with sweeping views over Kis-Balaton (Little Lake Balaton). Opened in 2019, it quickly became one of Hungary's most popular all-weather entertainment destinations, earning a 4.5-star rating from over 3,200 Google reviews.↗↗↗
The park is now listed as permanently closed on Google Maps. In 2023, it was acquired by the Erzsébet Foundation, which plans to transform the site into a therapeutic holiday camp for children with medical needs. Travelers heading to the area should confirm current access before visiting.↗
What Made It Special
When it opened in April 2019, Zobori was a landmark moment for Hungarian domestic tourism. Minister Rogán Antal remarked that Zalaszabar had beaten Budapest to having a fixed installation roller coaster — a claim that underscored how unusual and ambitious the park was for a small village in Zala County. The entire project, built with over 1.27 billion forints in investment (a large share from state tourism subsidies), transformed a hillside plot into a sprawling indoor-outdoor adventure complex.
