Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park
Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site perched atop a 230-metre volcanic peak on the Caribbean coast of St. Kitts. Designed by British military engineers and built over more than a century of African slave labour, it is one of the best-preserved historical fortifications in the Americas — a place where the grandeur of colonial military architecture meets the sobering story of the people who raised its walls stone by stone. Visitors climb past bastions, barracks, cisterns, and officer quarters to the Citadel of Fort George, from which sweeping views stretch across turquoise water to the neighbouring islands of Nevis, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. The on-site museum and interpretive spaces bring two centuries of Caribbean colonial warfare vividly to life.
