Ogatasube Shrine
Ogatasube Shrine (小形部神社) is a quiet rural Shinto shrine in the Fukuda district of Tatsuno, Hyogo Prefecture, dedicated to Izanagi and Izanami—the divine couple of Japanese creation mythology. Its origins stretch back to the reign of Empress Suiko in the early 7th century, when a small chapel on a hillside served as an inner shrine of the nearby Ikaruga-ji temple complex. Destroyed by wartime fire in 1541 and rebuilt by villagers around 1600, the shrine today preserves a rare living memory of the boundary where Buddhism and Shinto faith once merged.
