Wat Tum SamakkhiBuddhist temple

Prang Ku District · TH

Wat Tum Samakkhi

Wat Tum Samakkhi is a small, working Buddhist temple in the village of Tambon Tum, in Prang Ku District of Si Sa Ket province in northeastern Thailand. Registered as a private temple of the Mahanikaya order in 2009, it serves as a focal point for the daily religious life of its surrounding farming community rather than as a tourist landmark. There is no grand monument or museum to see here. What the temple offers instead is an unfiltered glimpse of how a rural Isan wat functions: resident monks keeping their rains retreat, villagers gathering on holy days to make merit, and the year's biggest celebration being the communal Kathin robe-offering. For travellers passing through the province's lesser-known southern Isan, it is a place to observe authentic temple-village life up close and at a calm, unhurried pace.
