Agadez Historical mosque
The Grand Mosque of Agadez is a living monument at the heart of a Saharan crossroads, crowned by the world's tallest mud-brick minaret at 27 meters. Built in the early 16th century and rebuilt in the 1840s, it still anchors the daily rhythm of this Tuareg city with five calls to prayer echoing across ochre rooftops. As the defining monument of the Historic Centre of Agadez — a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013 — the mosque represents over five centuries of sophisticated earthen architecture and trans-Saharan cultural exchange. Its silhouette has guided caravans across the desert's southern edge for hundreds of years.
