Cisheng Temple (Ci Sheng Gong), Beidou
Cisheng Temple (慈聖宮, Císhèng Gōng) is a small neighbourhood shrine tucked into the farming countryside of Beidou Township in Changhua County, found at No. 522 on Daxin Road in Daxin Village (大新里). Unlike the big tourist-facing temples of the region, it is the modest, everyday kind of folk-religion site that anchors a rural Taiwanese village — a place where local families come to burn incense and pray rather than a curated sightseeing stop. The name 慈聖宮 is a common one for Taiwanese temples, and across the island it almost always signals a shrine dedicated to Mazu (天上聖母, the Heavenly Mother) or to Guanyin (the bodhisattva of compassion), with the characters 慈 (compassion) and 聖 (sacred) honouring the deity's mercy. Without an official page from this particular shrine, the exact deity enshrined here is best taken from what you see on the altar when you visit, but the name places it firmly in the benevolent mother-goddess tradition that runs deep through southern Changhua.
