Belén Gualcho
Belén Gualcho is a small mountain municipality in western Honduras, tucked into the highlands of Ocotepeque department at the edge of Celaque National Park. Founded in 1715, it is one of the most authentically Lenca indigenous communities in the country — roughly 87–95% of residents trace their roots to this pre-Columbian people. A remarkably preserved colonial church with three stone domes, a vibrant Sunday market where Lenca women sell produce and handmade bread, and the cold-water Santa María waterfall make this remote village a rewarding destination for travelers willing to make the journey.
