Caguana Ceremonial Indigenous Heritage Center
Set on a dramatic limestone terrace in Puerto Rico's mountainous interior, Caguana is the largest Taíno ceremonial site in the entire West Indies. Built around 1270 AD, this UNESCO-recognized archaeological park brings the spiritual world of Borikén's original people vividly to life through its stone-lined ball courts, carved petroglyphs, and the towering monoliths that once framed sacred dances and rituals. A National Historic Landmark since 1993, Caguana draws tens of thousands of visitors each year who walk among more than a dozen bateyes (ceremonial plazas), admire the densest concentration of rock art in the Antilles, and learn Taíno history from a recently renovated museum housing over 200 artifacts.
