Ruttkai Éva és Latinovits Zoltán emléktábla

On a quiet, leafy residential street on Budapest's Buda side, a commemorative plaque fixes a house wall to one of Hungary's great romantic and artistic legends: the actress Éva Ruttkai (1927–1986) and the actor Zoltán Latinovits (1931–1976). The memorial stands at Endrődi Sándor utca 67, in the elegant Rózsadomb quarter of the city's II. district, the home the two stars shared during their passionate, turbulent partnership. For Hungarians this is not a random street corner but a place of affectionate memory. Ruttkai, the undisputed diva of the Vígszínház and one of the most versatile actresses of post-war film and stage, and Latinovits, the brooding "King of Actors" immortalised as Szindbád, formed the country's most mythologised celebrity couple—the only Hungarian actor-pair to have asteroids named for them as a duo. The plaque lets travellers follow the human story behind the legend, at the very address where it unfolded.
