Catel Fort
Perched on a headland above Grève de Lecq Bay on Jersey's rugged north coast, Le Câtel Fort is an atmospheric 1780s battery and guardhouse built to defend one of the island's few sheltered landing places from French invasion. Now in the care of the National Trust for Jersey, this small fortress offers visitors sweeping coastal panoramas, a tangible link to Jersey's military past, and easy access to one of the island's most beautiful bays. The fort's loop-holed walls and commanding position make it a rewarding stop on the coastal footpath, while the village of Grève de Lecq below provides clear swimming waters, beach cafés, and a perfect base for exploring the north coast.
