AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Marina Arch is a sweeping 184-metre steel arch that soars 75 metres above the Lusail Marina Interchange, serving as a bold gateway to Qatar's master-planned waterfront city. Designed in collaboration with the internationally renowned bridge architects Dissing+Weitling, this illuminated structure has become one of Lusail's most recognisable landmarks, transforming an ordinary highway junction into a sculptural statement visible from kilometres away.↗↗
Open around the clock with no admission fee, the arch draws photographers, evening strollers, and road-trippers exploring the Lusail waterfront. Its dramatic silhouette is best appreciated at dusk, when architectural lighting turns the gently twisting structure into a glowing frame against the Gulf sky.↗↗
An Architectural Statement on the Highway
Conceived as a gateway to Lusail City, the Marina Arch was engineered to elevate the A1/A6 Marina Interchange from functional road junction to civic landmark. Its triangular cross-section tapers as it rises, incorporating a subtle anti-clockwise twist that emanates from the base—so the arch's profile never looks quite the same from any two angles. This continuous morphing means a driver approaching from different directions sees a different sculptural form, and the structure rewards photographers willing to circle it.
