AT A GLANCE
Why go?
The Selfie Bridge is a striking pedestrian platform that arches 116 metres out over the Sava River with no supports touching the water, creating the illusion of floating above the river. Opened in April 2024 at the base of Kula Belgrade — Serbia's tallest building — it has rapidly become one of the capital's most photographed spots, drawing visitors for its glass-floored walkway, panoramic skyline views, and sheer engineering audacity.↗↗↗
A Bridge That Floats
The Selfie Bridge isn't technically a bridge that crosses the river — it's a panoramic observation platform that branches out from the Sava Promenade in a sweeping arc above the water, then returns to the bank. The steel span covers 116 metres with no pillars in the river at all, connected to shore at only two points. This makes the structure appear to hover weightlessly above the Sava, giving walkers the uncanny sensation of standing in mid-air over open water.↗↗
The design widens and narrows along its length: the walkway is 12 metres across where it meets the promenade and tapers to 4 metres at the farthest curve, pushing visitors toward the centre of the river for the most dramatic vantage point. The entire structure is a single console — a cantilevered masterpiece of seven prefabricated steel segments, each weighing between 40 and 65 tonnes, transported by barge and lifted into position from the water.
