AT A GLANCE
Why go?
In a hand-painted bourgeois house on Cara Lazara Street in central Kraljevo, a Serbian family has turned its own living room into the country's only museum devoted to slatko — the jewel-bright fruit and flower preserves spooned out to guests with a glass of cold water. The Museum of Spoonsweet (Muzej slatka – Kuća Cvetića) is part gallery, part parlor, part edible archive: more than 600 objects tell the story of how a single sweet spoonful became a cornerstone of Serbian hospitality.↗↗↗
It is the kind of place that rewards the curious. The preserves on display include violet, lilac and acacia blossom alongside square-cut watermelon and white cherry, and unlike a conventional museum, every exhibit here is meant to be tasted, washed down with coffee ground fresh at your table in a century-old salon decorated with Secession wall paintings.↗↗
