AT A GLANCE
Why go?
Tucked inside a soaring, climate-controlled conservatory at Gardens by the Bay, the Cloud Forest recreates the cool, mist-wrapped world of tropical highlands right in the heart of Singapore. Its centrepiece is a 35-metre indoor waterfall—one of the tallest in the world—cascading down a lush, planted mountain that you can climb on winding walkways.↗↗
Inside, the air is held at a temperate 23–25°C with 80–90% humidity, mimicking the cloud-forest habitats usually found some 2,000 metres above sea level. The result is an emerald landscape of ferns, mosses and carnivorous plants, punctuated by periodic bursts of mist that make the whole space feel alive. It is a cool, green counterpoint to the heat outside and one of the most singular sights in Marina Bay.↗
A mountain in the clouds
The conservatory is built around a terraced hillside planted as it would be in a true cloud forest, with vegetation from tropical highlands around the world. Rather than strolling through flat garden beds, you ascend—taking a spiral route up to the mountain's peak and back down again. Along the way, look for unusual plants adapted to these misty slopes, including pitcher plants and Venus Flytraps, set against a verdant carpet of delicate ferns and mosses.
